ELEMENTARY HOMEWORK
  1. Field Journal (Draw and write about something you learned this week.) Length:  1st grade just a few words; 2nd grade 1-2 sentences; 3rd grade and up 3-5 sentences.
  2. Lab: Pressure fountain with balloon (Watch this video and use the materials Miss Lori provided WITH A PARENT to make your pressure fountain)  You will also need a bowl, water, scissors, and some kind of hot glue, shoe goo, gum, or something sticky to seal the bottle.

  1. What is the Coriolis Effect?
  2. What is a “front” in weather?  What are the different types of fronts?
  3. What is a monsoon?
  4. What is an air mass prevailing wind (and doldrums, trade winds, westerlies, and polar easterlies)?
  5.  What are “drafts”?
  6.  What is hail and how is it formed?
  7.  What is rain and how is it formed?
  8.  What is sleet and how is it formed?
  9.  What is snow and how is it formed?
  10.  What is humidity?  (include dewpoint, relative humidity, and saturated air)
  11. Find a weather map image and paste it in. What is air pressure?  What is a cold front?  A warm front?
  12.  How does the amount of water vapor in the air affect temperature and pressure?
